The pastor's thoughts for the week
Hello Church,
I would like to share my thoughts from our weekend at Camp Grace with you all. We had 8 youth and 5 adults that left Friday at noon and went to Camp Grace to help them prepare the grounds for the children that will be coming this summer for camp. Friday evening, we worked on clearing a trail they use for various activities for the kids. Then on Saturday we raked leaves, cut limbs and undergrowth from the activities area which is a large area. During that time a group of young people from another church came to help us. Our group was able to work alongside them, which was awkward at first, but they eventually warmed up and began to talk and converse with one another. One young boy shared with me of how much he looked forward to the "Rolling Chapel" that Camp Grace brings to the local schools each week for the kids to come out and learn about Jesus. We had a devotion time by the campfire each evening and on Sunday morning. The message for the weekend was based on John 5:22-30, with the focus on verse 30.

“I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me."
We discussed the importance of not seeking our own will for our lives but the will of God found in His Word. We discussed how the will of man always leads to death and sin, specifically we looked at Adam when he did his own will in the garden by eating the forbidden fruit. We also talked about examples like Abraham doing his will with Hagar, David with Bathsheba and several other examples of how when we choose our will the results can ripple on for generations and to nations of people for years and years. We also looked at how the will of God always leads to life, peace, joy hope, we specifically looked at Jesus in Matthew 26:39 and Romans 5:12-21.
We looked at several examples of when man did God's will and how it worked out so wonderfully for all. Some examples were Joseph listening to God and not having Mary put away or stoned to death, Noah building the Ark and preserving creation, Joshua leading Israel in marching around Jericho to give them the victory as the walls crumbled, Jesus being obedient to the Cross which led to victory for us over sin and death. We saw the evidence in scripture of how the Father's will is always best for our lives as well as those around us.
We had wonderful meals and fellowship times. We played sports, fished, swung on the swings and ate smores around the campfire in our free time. Before we left, we had a prayer walk around the camp and each youth prayed for the different areas of ministry at Camp Grace. It was a blessing to see and hear the prayers of these young people. I encourage you to pray for Camp Grace and even consider how you can be a part of their ministry too!
Thank You and God Bless,
Pastor Ray Renn
